This time Makar Sankranti will be celebrated in Mathura on 15th January. There will be Aquarius Moon in Shatabhisha Nakshatra. On January 15, at 2:44 am, Lord Bhaskar will transit into Sun God Capricorn. With this Makar Sankranti will begin. Along with this, other auspicious works including marriage will also start.
Jyotishacharya Kameshwar Chaturvedi, director of Deepak Jyotish Bhagwat Sansthan, Mathura, said that when Sun God enters Capricorn after leaving Sagittarius, then that transition period is known as Makar Sankranti. This time on January 15, sunrise will be in this zodiac sign. Due to which Makar Sankranti will be celebrated on 15th January only. Uttarayan starts from this day. Uttarayan lasts for 6 months and Devyaan begins. The days start getting longer and the nights start getting shorter. On the arrival of Uttarayan, auspicious works like marriage, Yagyopaveet, Mundan Sanskar, housewarming etc. also start.
Sharad Chaturvedi Sahityacharya told that according to beliefs, on this day the gods come to the earth in disguise and give 100 times the results of the charity, religion and virtue done by humans. On this day, one should take bath in places like Ganga, Yamuna or river etc. Khichdi, warm clothes, good luck items, jaggery, sesame, gram, dakshina etc. are donated.

Makar Sankranti festival is known by many names. A day before this, it is known as Lohri and Makar Sankranti is known as Khichdi in North India, Tal Gul in Maharashtra and Pongal in South India.
One gets a child by donating milk churning.
Astrologer Saurabh Shastri Rishabhdev told that from the day of Makar Sankranti, after worshiping Lord Krishna, donate butter and curd in a pot. This is called Dadhi Manthan Daan. This results in the birth of a beautiful child. Jashoda Maiya and Nand Baba also donated curd churning on Makar Sankranti due to which Lord Govind was born.
